About Our Event
JNFuture LA's Tu BiShvat Volunteer Event will take place on Sunday, February 9 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Shemesh Farms in Malibu!
Shemesh Farms is a Jewish social enterprise that employs nearly 100 young adults with special needs and diverse abilities, and empowers them with the responsibilities of building a sustainable business through paid positions in production, sales, marketing, logistics, and more. Shemesh Farms produces premium, hand-crafted Kosher spices and herb blends that are sold online, in stores, and at events that allow chefs to season with purpose.
Shemesh Farms was badly affected by the Woolsey Fire in 2018 and needs help replanting their precious herb garden. What better way to honor Tu BiShvat (aka Israeli Arbor Day) as well as Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month than to pick up a shovel and help Shemesh Farms get back to business!
We need a minimum of 10 volunteers for Sunday, February 9. If each one of us commits to volunteering and bringing at least one person along with us, we can surpass 10 volunteers and do even more to help Shemesh Farms. We will be providing water, snacks, and gardening supplies (gloves, shovels, etc.) We will donate the gardening supplies to Shemesh Farms since they lost so much of their equipment in the fire. We ask that volunteers chip in $10 to take part in this incredible volunteer opportunity.
Water, snacks, and gardening supplies will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of sunscreen.
