About Our Event

Shabbat in the Desert is JNFuture’s annual signature event for young professionals between the ages of 22-40 who share a commitment and passion for Israel. Join over 400 attendees for dinner, drinks, and the opportunity to connect with Jewish National Fund's community.

Matan BenGigi

Matan Ben Gigi

Former Commander, Israeli Navy

Matan Ben Gigi was born in Jerusalem and completed a five-year tour of duty in a special operations unit of the Israeli Navy, spending the last two years of his service as a Commander. He led the rigorous physical, educational, ethical, and technical challenges of training while stressing character building, increasing resilience, strategic thinking, and communal responsibility. Matan participated in the pre-army gap year leadership program located adjacent to the Gaza border and has served as a volunteer at a Special Education school, “Ilanot,” for teens with severe disabilities.
