Rabbi Dr. Analia Bortz
For her leadership in the Atlanta Jewish community and her steadfast commitment to Jewish National Fund.
Rabbi Dr. Analia Bortz is the first ordained Latin American female rabbi who completed her rabbinical ordination in Jerusalem as a student of the Seminario Rabinico Lantioamericano Marshall T. Meyer, in 1994. Along with her husband, Rabbi Mario Karpui, Rabbi Dr. Bortz is the founder and full-time rabbi at Congregation Or Hadash of Sandy Springs. Rabbi Dr. Bortz has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2018 BBC “100 Most Influential Women Award,” and was named one of the “40 Most Influential Jewish Leaders” by The Forward in 2019. She has over 30 years of experience as a pulpit spiritual leader, and as a Bioethicist, Rabbi Dr. Bortz helped created Bioethics committees in Chile and at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
