Episode 38 - This week on IsraelCast, we are joined on the line by Professor Alon Tal, Chair of the Department of Public Policy at Tel Aviv University, founder of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, an author, and chair of This is My Earth and Tzafuf - The Israel Forum for Population, Environment and Society. In this fascinating conversation, Tal shares his views on overpopulation in Israel – the causes, the consequences, the predictions, and a few solutions.

A prolific writer, Tal has authored six books, the most recent, “The Land is Full: Addressing Overpopulation in Israel,” and is one of Israel's first advocates favoring a national policy to reduce population growth as a precondition to a sustainable future. It’s a question of quality of life, he says, not about maximum population, but about optimal population.
